Responsibilities
Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center located in Oakland Park, FL is a facility that specializes in quality behavioral health and substance abuse services for youth, adults and seniors. We offer a full continuum of care through an integrated system of inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Progressive professionals in the fields of psychiatry, medicine, nursing, social services, education and activity therapy provide our comprehensive services. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the unit. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the operational oversight of assigned unit activities, and will oversee all unit activities including, but not limited to, admissions, discharges and supervision of the assigned nursing staff. The Nurse Manager directs and supervises the activities of the Nurses and the Mental Health Techs working on the unit as part of the nursing team. The Nurse Manager is directly responsible for ensuring the accurate documentation standards and report monthly on performance improvement metrics. The Nurse Manager will ensure that all necessary supplies are available, equipment is in operational order and that the service line is survey ready at all times. The Nurse Manager will coordinate all medical codes, whether real or mock, and ensure they are carried out appropriately and safely. Qualifications Position Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program, BSN preferred Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably six (6) months in psychiatric nursing Combination of education and years of experience can substitute for degree requirement Experience: Some experience in working with mental health population is required Medical-surgical, emergency room or ICU experience is a plus Customer Service skills Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida CPR & ACLS certification Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching and management skills Demonstrated competency in Patient Care Practices, Medication Procedures, Therapeutic Boundaries, Common Psychiatric Diagnoses, Infection Control Practices, Fire Safety and Environment of Care Practices, Age Appropriate Care, and Patient Behavior Management.
