About the Department	The Data Science and AI Academy is the first of several NC State Academies, which are true university-wide efforts involving all 10 colleges. The Data Science and AI Academy's goal is to network and catalyze data science across all three pillars of the university's land-grant mission: education, research and service to the state of North Carolina. Essential Job Duties	Join a collaborative community of instructors and help learners across and beyond NC State apply data science and AI in meaningful, real-world ways. The Data Science and AI Academy offers courses grounded in our ADAPT (All Campus Data Science and AI Project-based Teaching and Learning) course model. We seek instructors from industry, government and academia to teach permanent and special topics undergraduate courses at the 200 - 295 level (no prerequisites), 400 - 495 level (skills-based prerequisites) and graduate level courses at the 500 - 595 level. As an instructor with The Data Science and AI Academy,you will also join a professional teaching community that meets twice monthly to discuss data science and AI teaching and learning research and practice. The DSA occasionally offers not-for-credit customized courses through the Data and AI at Work program. We also seek applicants to teach these professional, customized and continuing education courses. The for-credit courses meet for 50 minutes once a week for a semester and can be delivered in person or online. Data and AI at Work (not-for-credit) courses have a customized schedule. For-Credit Course Offerings: Introduction to R/Python for Data Science, Introduction to Data Visualization, Data Communication, Introduction to AI Ethics, Data Science for Social Good, Introduction to Data Science for Cybersecurity Measuring Success Data Wrangling and Web Scraping, Exploratory Data Analysis for Big Data, Data Internships Preparation for Social Impact, Exploring Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics for Improving Services, Appointments will be for one or two semesters with the possibility of renewal. Note that this position is only for teaching a few (often just 1) credits, not full-time. Other Required Qualifications	Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with learners and colleagues. Teaching or facilitation skills suited to learners with varying levels of technical knowledge. Skill in translating technical concepts into practical, understandable applications relevant to learners' work or academic goals. Experience developing and delivering engaging learning experiences using appropriate instructional methods and technology. Adaptability and responsiveness to different audiences, course formats, and learner needs.
